In the video, the filmmaker alienates Zero by making it a different color compared to the other numbers. The numbers ranging from one to nine are pink and the yarn was wound tidily, while all the zeroes are brown in color and have the yarn wound around them messily. The difference in the yarn colors and how neat they look represent how the zeroes are treated in the society. It also implies racism, where the zeroes are treated differently and are looked down on.
The video’s music also helps us view in Zero’s perspective. The music was gloomy, slow, and sad when it explains about the hardships of his life. Meanwhile, when Zero met a girl like him and fell in love, the music was light and sweet and slightly cheerful, making the audience feel how happy Zero was. When his girlfriend was giving birth to the twins, the music was slightly tense, which tells the audience about what Zero feels.
The video also includes shots which were from Zero’s perspective. This can be seen when he viewed the girl as an angel, or when he was looking out of the the window in his prison at his girlfriend. This allows the audience to view the world from Zero’s eyes and show them what he saw in certain aspects of the movie, like when his friends hung him upside down from the tree, a shot of an upside down birds nest was seen.
